GST reconciliation without the month-end scramble.

Compliance is easy when the ledger is already right. It is painful when the ledger is reconstructed at month end.

Why GST reconciliation hurts

For most businesses the GST return itself is not the hard part. The hard part is proving that three things agree: what the books say you sold, what suppliers have reported about what they sold you, and what you are about to declare.

When sales, purchases and stock live in separate spreadsheets or tools, that proof is assembled by hand in the last days before the due date. Mismatches are found late, when there is no time to chase a supplier or correct an invoice.

The three returns that must agree

  • GSTR-1 reports your outward supplies, so it should match your sales ledger.
  • GSTR-2B is the auto-drafted statement of input tax credit based on what your suppliers filed, so it should be compared with your purchase ledger.
  • GSTR-3B is the summary return where tax liability and credit are declared, so it should follow from the other two.

If the ledger is not already structured around these, every month becomes a manual exercise.

Reconcile continuously, not monthly

YIKES ERP runs continuous double-entry accounting, so every sale, purchase and payment posts to the ledger as it happens. GSTR-1, GSTR-2B and GSTR-3B reconciliation is available in one click from that live ledger, with board-ready balance sheets and audit-ready reports generated from the same data.

The practical effect is that a mismatch shows up the day it is created, while the invoice and the supplier are still easy to reach.

What to look for in any ERP

  • Does the ledger update as transactions happen, or in batches?
  • Can you see unmatched purchase invoices against supplier-reported credit before the due date?
  • Can an auditor trace any figure back to its source document?
